Marco Zavala is the gentle powerhouse behind much of the beautiful imagery accompanying our Features series, but he also contributes often to zines, workshops, and showcases as well. We don't know what we'd do without him! 

We are excited to bring you Kelsey Cooley’s poem, “I’ve Left Myself on the Carpeted Stairs.” Kelsey remarks that her poems over the last year have emerged from her daily journaling, and indeed, “Carpeted Stairs” has the markings of deeply-felt confessional poetry.

Joe Duncan got involved with Spiderweb around 2013; the first show he attended was at Dan’s Silverleaf. He started participating in shows the following year, attending workshops and contributing to zines.

We’re pleased to welcome Megan J. Arlett to our features collection with her poem, The Cabin. Megan is relatively new to Texas and is currently working on her PhD at the University of North Texas for Literature and Creative Writing.

Congrats to Axel Severs for being the most recent recipient of Shiny Sound Recording Studio & Spiderweb Salon’s Songwriting Scholarship. Through his project entitled Rosie, Axel gave our crew of musicians a chance to explore new territory in their musical repertoire with his post-rock inspired, found-sound jam.

Working in a high school, James Rosin has never really gotten away from the angst. But through his art, he’s been able to exorcise it.

Maureen Leak is a talented poet, playwright, artist, cook, and all-around-creative, and we’re lucky to have her as a collaborator here at Spiderweb Salon. In this feature, we are bringing you her poem in celebration of this collective of wonderful, creative weirdos.

For quite some time, we’ve known Charlie Moore to be a talented musician. There are countless reasons we were inspired to invite him into the studio as the newest recipient of the Spiderweb Salon + Shiny Sound Songwriting Scholarship, and this collaboration is everything this project was born to be: people creating beautiful music together.

Matthew Long has been involved with Spiderweb Salon since, in his estimation, the 3rd or 4th event, about five years ago. A hilarious member of the troupe Matthew the 3nius, Matthew has long made us laugh so hard our stomachs hurt. He’s also got a visual side as a rad watercolorist and designer.

We are thrilled to bring you Fatima-Ayan Malika Hirsi's beautiful, concrete poem, “impolite mythology.” Fatima wrote the poem a few years ago and turned it into its current snake shape when she decided to include it in her forthcoming chapbook, Moon Woman.

We are excited to feature Nate Logan’s poem, “We’re an American Band.” Nate wrote the poem over the course of last year as an exercise in crafting a longer poem. He says his routine is set for writing only one day a week which may be “blasphemy for some, but it works for [him].”
