Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Artist Residencies with Spiderweb Salon!

What do you need to do your best work? Time, space, resources, connection? How do you want to grow? What is your dream? What are you hungry for?

Spiderweb is committed to safely navigating a post-vaccinated world with intention and inspiration, using our new residency program as a catalyst for creativity and community.

Once selected to participate, artists will work closely with the program directors to create the experience they want, including the time frame (1-7 days), materials needed, collaborators & friends involved, community opportunities, extracurricular adventures, and overall goals. Artists are welcome to apply for a residency together to create collaborative work.

Residencies includes access to indoor / outdoor studio space, supplies / materials, organizational assistance & creative consultation, options to collaborate or commune with fellow artists, residency documentation, and vegetarian/vegan meals. Artists are responsible for transportation to the residency, but may inquire if travel scholarships are available upon acceptance.

APRIL 2021: Lei Lei Lashawn

Lei Lei’s three-day-long residency was an action-packed, multi-disciplinary, mixed-media artistic vision with a desire to foster community and love after a long-dormant pandemic-induced lull that affected everyone we know. The weekend resulted in an explosion of creativity, including a six-hour outdoor Spiderweb Salon event complete with an artist market, breakfast buffet, free store, workshops, and open mic. Throughout the duration of the event, Lei Lei worked on creating two paint/collage masterpieces that sold even before the day was over. She also shared THE LOVE REVOLUTION, her ongoing and ever-evolving interactive performance project, and began a new piece, THE LOVE SCROLL, where friends shared the things they love most on a huge scroll that will travel the country with Lei Lei on her next adventures. In the moments between planning and workshopping and running the event, Lei Lei & courtney marie & friends also enjoyed many meals together, went on an early morning hiking trip, completed an important thrift store mission, and played with a vintage spirograph set.
